Save a Life at UWI’s 35th Blood Drive

For Release Upon Receipt - July 24, 2025

St. Augustine

St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago, July 24, 2025 - The University of the West Indies Blood Donor Foundation (UWIBDF) is pleased to invite the public to its upcoming 35th Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Drive. This event will take place on Saturday, July 26th, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mt. Hope Hospital Blood Bank.

A UWI staff member donates blood inside the UWI Blood Donor Foundation (UWIBDF) Mobile Unit, during the UWIBDF 2024 drive at the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) Greens, The UWI St. Augustine Campus, on Tuesday 11th June, 2024.

Following the success of the previous drives where sixty-eight voluntary pints of blood were collected, The UWIBDF is setting an ambitious goal to surpass one-hundred pints at this event. To help achieve this target, the Foundation encourages early attendance to reduce waiting times and ensure a smooth donation experience.

The UWIBDF also encourages members of the public to invite friends, family and colleagues to participate in this meaningful cause. Every donation of whole blood can save up to three lives, highlighting the significant impact of this vital and generous act.

Volunteering to donate blood is an act of compassion and solidarity. It is a tangible way to support patients in need, contribute to public health, and further a charitable cause. The UWIBDF reminds all eligible individuals that their participation can bring hope, healing, and even a second chance at life to those in critical need.

Prospective donors are encouraged to pre-register and help streamline the donation process by completing the online pre-registration form. By giving blood voluntarily and selflessly, donors become heroes who help strengthen the health and wellbeing of our communities.

For detailed information regarding the process and requirements to donate blood, please refer to the UWIBDF’s guidelines. For further inquiries, please contact the UWIBDF team at 290-0600, 778-8782, 492-4739, or 390-1611.
