St Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago — 22nd September 2025The Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) and The Alma Jordan Library (AJL) at The UWI, St Augustine, invite the public to explore Curated Archival Collections — part of the IGDS’ Making of Feminisms in the Caribbean. This powerful exhibition features the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action (CAFRA) Regional Collection and Beijing Reflections from the Collections of Emeritus Professor Rhoda Reddock.

The display runs from September 8 to October 8, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM, on the Ground Floor of the AJL at The UWI St. Augustine Campus.

The CAFRA Collection celebrates the legacy of the, a pioneering network founded in 1985. Materials include newsletters, reports, and archives documenting over three decades of feminist organising across the Caribbean, including CAFRA’s leadership as the Caribbean Sub-Regional Focal Point for the landmark 1995 UN Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing.

Beijing Reflections, drawn from the papers of Emeritus Professor Rhoda Reddock, commemorates the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Beijing Conference and NGO Forum. This exhibit highlights the activism, advocacy and transformative impact of Caribbean women’s participation and its lasting influence on gender and development in the region.

The Making of Caribbean Feminisms project, of which these collections are part, is founded on the belief that the impulse to further feminist theorizing and activism needs to be transmitted to a younger generation. This public exhibition offers a rare opportunity for all generations to engage with and consider contributing to the archival treasures that chronicle the Making of Feminisms in the Caribbean and their continued relevance today.
