The UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica, W.I., Friday, December 19, 2025—The University of the West Indies Press (UWI Press) proudly announces that Reimaginative Leadership: Concepts and Applications by Canute S. Thompson has earned a place as a finalist in the 2025 Goody Business Book Awards in the highly respected Leadership category. The Goody Business Book Awards unveiled their 2025 winners and finalists in November, showcasing outstanding works that prioritise social impact across various fields, including Business, Health, Leadership, and Technology. Each year, this prestigious recognition honours over 100 authors, including 50 deserving winners and 50 finalists, for their significant contributions to their respective fields.
This recognition underscores the innovative quality and relevance of Professor Thompson's work. Reimaginative Leadership challenges traditional paradigms of organisational leadership by proposing a reconceptualisation adapted to the demands of the 21st century, particularly in the Caribbean context. Thompson argues for a leadership model grounded in care, courage, trust, and accountability, and offers nine foundational concepts that rehumanise the relationship between leaders and workers. The book provides practical guidance for both leaders and employees navigating the complexity of modern organisations.
Canute S. Thompson, author, remarked, "I am exceedingly grateful and proud of yet another award-winning publication. This is my third publication through the UWI Press, and all three have won awards. This achievement is a testament to the Press's rigorous peer-review system and its ability to spot a manuscript with potential. In addition to my gratitude to UWI Press for this very fruitful partnership, I also thank the peer reviewers (who operated blindly) as well as supportive colleagues and friends, some of whom reviewed the manuscripts."
UWI Press Director Christine Randle shares, "This finalist recognition reflects the exceptional quality and thought leadership embodied in this book. It's a well-deserved honour, and we are thrilled to celebrate this achievement."
As a UWI Press-published work, Reimaginative Leadership is among a distinguished catalogue of Caribbean scholarship. UWI Press, a not-for-profit scholarly publisher founded in 1992, is well known for elevating Caribbean voices and perspectives across academic disciplines.
