For Release Upon Receipt - April 30, 2026

St. Augustine

St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago – April 30, 2026 – The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) at The University of the West Indies (The UWI), St. Augustine conducted months of community research and collaboration with Windermere Private School and Amica House in preparation for its 2026 Children’s Theatre Production. By working directly with children during the development process, the student-led production was grounded in their experiences, interests and needs, helping to shape performances that are engaging, inclusive and responsive to young audiences.

In celebration of the DCFA’s ’40 Years Legacy’ celebrations, the production will be hosted at The UWI Learning Resource Centre (LRC). Performances begin on Friday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m., followed by a dedicated sensory-friendly performance at 1:00 p.m., with additional shows on Saturday, May 2nd  at 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The double-feature production will present two original plays, Peeping Star and Life is not Stationery, under the tagline, “Where stories play, imaginations lead and every child finds their place in the tale.” The showcase highlights the importance of theatre as a space where children can explore creativity, emotion, identity and belonging.

Directed by Michailean Taylor, the production serves as the culmination of the DCFA course - Theatre for Children and Young People.

Tickets are priced at $40 for children under 12 and $60 for the general public. Seating is limited to 30 adults and 70 children per show, so early reservations are encouraged.
