The UWI St Augustine Campus Makes Winning Start on Opening Day of The UWI Games 2026

St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago – May 23, 2026 — Host Campus -The University of the West Indies (The UWI), St Augustine Campus - made a strong statement on the opening day of the UWI Games 2026, with dominant victories in netball and table tennis.

National U21 player and St. Augustine captain Maikea Bramble led the scoring with 67 goals as St. Augustine cruised pass Global Campus 69-13 at UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC). The convincing 56-point margin victory provided a thrilling start for the home campus and its supporters.

The St Augustine campus started the day's proceedings with victory in table tennis over Global Campus 8-3 at the UWI SPEC. The team won the women's doubles, 3-0, men's single, 3-0, and men's doubles, 2-0. Global Campus won the women's single 3-0.

 The results gave UWI St Augustine a positive early boost in the multi-sport regional competition, which brings together athletes from across The UWI’s campuses from May 21 to 29, 2026. The Games feature competition across 10 sporting disciplines and mark the return of one of the University’s major inter-campus sporting traditions.
