The University of the West Indies (UWI), Communication Studies Section, Department of Liberal Arts, Faculty of Humanities and Education, will host a Communication Forum with CNN giant Sam Feist on Thursday 5th March, 2009, in the Learnig Resource Centre (LRC) Auditorium A, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Mr. Sam Feist, Political Director and Vice President of Washington programming for CNN, will be the feature speaker at this forum entitled “A Discussion of the Impact of New Media on American Politics and the 2008 Election”. Feist will explore how the American media landscape has changed in recent years and how the Internet proved to be an asset but also a potential liability for Barack Obama’s winning presidential campaign."
Sam Feist is responsible for overseeing all of the network’s political and election coverage. He previously managed the production of the popular newcasts ‘Inside Politics’ and ‘Crossfire’. Prior to joining ‘Crossfire’, Feist was the founding executive producer of CNN’s daily newscast ‘Wolf Blitzer Reports’. He also served as the executive producer of CNN’s weekend programs ‘Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer’, ‘The Capital Gang’ and ‘Evans & Novak’. To date, he has produced live programs from nations around the world including China, Israel, Russia and the United Kingdom. He has also produced interviews with such world leaders as George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Al Gore, Yitzhak Rabin and Margaret Thatcher.
