Implementation Studies Conference aims to improve Project Management

For Release Upon Receipt - March 17, 2009

St. Augustine

On Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March, 2009, The University of the West Indies (UWI) will host an Implementation Studies Conference designed to bring greater efficiency to Public Sector projects. The conference entitled “Resurrecting Implementation Studies: Problems, Issues, Solutions”, will be held at the Faculty of Social Sciences Lounge, UWI, St. Augustine Campus. In light of the current economic crisis, the conference aims to highlight the importance of implementation studies in the practice of public sector management, and propose solutions for overcoming existing barriers and obstacles.

The conference will address a broad range of issues including policy analysis, the evaluative and organisational studies of institutions, control and monitoring mechanisms, the role of leadership, and the role of non-governmental organisations in the implementation process. Given the current recessionary trends and economic hardships, this renewed focus on the agenda of public sector management and the field of implementation studies is both timely and relevant.

The conference is free and open to the public.
