St. Augustine
‘Fragments’, a performance of Derek Walcott’s works will dazzle audiences from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th March 2009 and Thursday 2nd to Saturday 4th April, 2009. This production of The University of the West Indies (UWI) will be presented at the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), UWI, St. Augustine Campus. The contemporary show celebrates the theatrical scripts, essays and poems of Caribbean Nobel Laureate, Derek Walcott.
This student-led production of UWI Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) incorporates dance, song, mime, improvisation and spoken word. The performance expresses Walcott’s complex pieces in a way that is accessible to the audience. The interpretation deconstructs Walcott’s literary works without compromising the integrity of any of the author’s celebrated pieces.
Tickets can be purchased at a cost of $70 for members of the public and $60 for UWI students.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows - 8:30 p.m.
Sunday show - 6:30 p.m.
