UWI hosts BBF3 after Summit of the Americas

On the heels of the ongoing Summit of the Americas, Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Patrick Manning is expected to speak at a major Finance conference hosted by The University of the West Indies.

Prime Minister Manning is one of several high-profile speakers at the upcoming 3rd Biennial International Conference on Business, Banking & Finance (BBF3), hosted by UWI Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance (CCMF), the Department of Management Studies and the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES).

The Conference, which will take place at the UWI Learning Resource Centre (LRC) from Wednesday 27th to Friday 29th May, 2009, will also feature presentations from Senator Mariano Browne, Trinidad and Tobago Finance Minister; Ms. Angella Persad, President of the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce; Mr. David Dulal-Whiteway, Managing Director, Republic Bank Limited; Ms. Catherine Kumar, Managing Director, RBTT; Mr. Ron Allenby, Assistant Director Treasury Auctions and Settlement Systems, Bank of Canada; and Dr. Kenny Anthony, Former Prime Minister of St. Lucia. Prof. Clement Sankat, Pro Vice Chancellor and Campus Principal, UWI St. Augustine, is also expected to speak.

BBF3 is widely regarded as a forum for the exchange of ideas on critical business, banking and financial issues facing emerging economies in the context of a global financial and economic meltdown of unprecedented proportions. Participation is open to scholars, policy makers, graduate students, professionals and all persons interested in the burning issues associated with this theme. Among this year’s invitees are Mr. Ewart Williams, T&T Central Bank Governor and Chairman of the UWI St. Augustine Campus Council; and Mr. Larry Howai, CEO, First Citizens.
