St. Augustine

The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus is once again opening its doors to everyone interested in pursuing postgraduate education. The university’s annual Postgraduate Open Forum will be held on Saturday 16th May, 2009 at the JFK Auditorium, UWI, St. Augustine Campus from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm. Prospective students will be able to engage in one-on one interactions with staff, and receive invaluable advice on postgraduate course and degree options.

The Postgraduate Open Forum is designed to expose prospective postgraduate students to a wide range of possibilities for scholarship, research, development and innovation. The St Augustine campus, which recently introduced several taught and research-based graduate programmes, is constantly enhancing its suite of academic offerings to respond to the global challenges of Caribbean development and to remain on the cutting edge of tertiary education. This academic year will see the launch of the MA in Communication Studies, MSc in Advanced Nursing, MSc in Engineering Asset Management and the Arthur Lok Jack IMBA Health Specialisation.

The Open Forum will feature a series of informational booths set up by the UWI St Augustine Faculties of Science & Agriculture, Social Sciences, Humanities & Education, Engineering and Medicine, as well as the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES), Institute of Gender and Development Studies and The Institute of International Relations. Students will also have the opportunity to apply on the spot, at a series of on-site application stations.

Postgraduate study is intended for persons interested in engaging in local and international projects which would significantly contribute to the enhancement of the region. UWI postgraduate study is tailored to persons interested in establishing partnerships with academics, researchers and intellectuals from the 100-plus international universities and colleges with which UWI has collaborative agreements. All are welcome to come out and explore ways to advance their personal and professional development.
