Fourth Sonny Ramadhin Distinguished Cricket Lecture

The Faculty of Social Sciences of The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad, will host the Fourth Sonny Ramadhin Distinguished Cricket Lecture on Friday 16th March, 2007 at 7.00 p.m. at the J.F.K. Auditorium on the St. Augustine campus.

Mr. Malcolm Speed, Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) of the International Cricket Council (I.C.C.), will deliver the lecture. A barrister-at-law by profession, Mr. Speed has served as the C.E.O. of the I.C.C. since 2001 having previously served as the C.E.O. of the Australian Cricket Board between 1997 and 2001.

Previous lecturers in the Sonny Ramadhin Distinguished Cricket Lecture Series have been Mr. Tony Cozier who delivered the first Lecture in 2004; Dr. Ali Bacher in 2005; and, Mr. Sunil Gavaskar in 2006.

Sonny Ramadhin played for the West Indies between 1950 and 1961 in 43 Test matches and took 158 wickets at an average of 28.98. He was the first West Indian Test cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago to claim 100 wickets in Test cricket and the second West Indian Test cricketer overall to attain this feat.
