Employment Expo lets UWI Engineering students survey their options

For Release Upon Receipt - May 19, 2010

St. Augustine

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management invites students to survey their options at the Department’s Employment Expo, this Friday 21st May, 2010.

From 9am to noon, postgraduate and second-year undergraduate students of the Department will gather at the Surveying and GPS Laboratory, Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management, to meet with representatives from Petrotrin, the National Gas Company (NGC), the Ministry of Works and Transport Drainage Division and the Land Settlements Agency – just some of the companies that they can anticipate networking with at this event.

Students will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with potential employers and leave an impression that simply sending a resume cannot; gaining them easier access to jobs in the surveying, property management, geographic information systems (GIS), urban planning and construction industries.

Undergraduate students can especially look forward to the internship opportunities that this Expo will present. They can acquire hands-on experience in their desired fields and gain insight into the world of work, while earning credit toward their degrees.

This event is open only to postgraduate and second year undergraduate students of the Department of Geomatics Engineering and Land Management. Light refreshments will be served.
