The Marketing and Communications Office, at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, has won an Award of Excellence for the 2007 APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. The award was given in the Magazines and Journals (print over 32 pages) category for the St. Augustine News STAN.
The APEX 2007 Awards is the 19th Annual Awards for Publication Excellence Competition sponsored by the editors of Writing that Works: The Business Communications Report. The awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.
In 2006, The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) awarded The Marketing & Communications Office for the St. Augustine Newsletter STAN and for ‘Experience UWI’ an Undergraduate Prospectus.
Robert Henry former Communications Coordinator first launched STAN in July 1992 as a black and white, newsprint. Editor Anna Walcott-Hardy revamped the publication and presented STAN as a glossy-paper magazine when she began her tenure in 2001; since then 22 issues have been printed. Adri Ramdeane is responsible for the layout and design of the publication.
The Marketing and Communications Office is directed by Mrs. Dawn-Marie De Four-Gill.
