The University of the West Indies (UWI), Institute of Critical Thinking (ICT) has received a grant at a total value of TT $2.7 million, intended to support fifteen graduate scholarships leading to M.Phil and Ph.D degrees over three years.
In an official handover ceremony at ICT on October 24, the first cheque, valued at US $150 000 was handed over to The UWI. Director of the Institute of Critical Thinking and Pro Vice Chancellor (Planning and Development), Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie, received the cheque from Mr. Donald Eugene Pirtle, Country Manager, GlobalSanteFe. Deputy Principal, Professor Gurmohan Kochhar, and Pro Vice Chancellor (Graduate Studies), Professor Clement Sankat, were also present.
The Institute of Critical Thinking was established to serve as a catalyst for intellectual debate both within and beyond the University. It is a multidisciplinary research establishment dedicated to the study of the human development and the transformation of education.
