UWI hosts Computer Science IT Boot Camp for secondary school students

The Department of Computing and Information Technology (DCIT), at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus, will showcase its programmes to secondary school students in Trinidad and Tobago this July, at its Computer Science IT Boot Camp.  

From July 25th-29th, 2011, fifth and sixth form students have an opportunity to walk in the shoes of a DCIT student and experience life at UWI by participating in a variety of activities led by lecturers and postgraduate students of the Department. Among the week’s activities are seminars, hands-on laboratory sessions, games and discussions with current UWI students, graduates and industry partners. Participants can also look forward to field trips, a social dinner and presentations by leading IT companies. Topics to be covered during the week include computer programming, web design and development, game programming, computer forensics, robotics and mobile development.  

The camp will run from 8am to 4pm each day, at The UWI St. Augustine Campus. 

Participation in the DCIT’s Computer Science IT Boot Camp costs $1200, and registration is open until July 17th.
