UWI hosts Spatial Data Conference

The University of the West Indies, (UWI) Department of Surveying and Land Information will host the Tenth International Conference for Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI 10) at the UWI Learning Resource Centre (LRC), St. Augustine from Monday 25th to Friday 29th February, 2008.

The GSDI conference will look at the role of Spatial Data in supporting a sustainable future for small islands conference and therefore the theme for the conference is “Small Island Perspectives on Global Challenges: The Role of Spatial Data in Supporting a Sustainable Future.” The UWI is supporting the GSDI 10 as part of the Department of Surveying and Land Information’s celebration of its 25th anniversary.

GSDI conferences are opportunities to meet and exchange views about the implementation and development of spatial data concepts and practices. Policy makers at local, regional as well as on global levels are provided with an opportunity to interact with a global community fostering spatial data infrastructure developments in support of addressing worldwide needs.
