  • Seventy-seven quality leaders of 27 non-academic units were trained in service excellence leadership in February 2013.
  • Dr Ali attended institutional effectiveness and accreditation workshops at the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in April 2013
  • Mr. Kristen Cockburn joins the I.E.U. Team as Quality Enhancement Officer in April 2013
  • The United States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs sponsored Dr Ali’s participation in a higher education international leadership program in June 2013. Dr Ali toured AdvancED, a Georgia-based US secondary and post-secondary accreditation agency, the Academic Planning Office and the Institute of Higher Education of the University of Georgia and the Office for Academic Planning and Accountability at Florida International University.
  • University Council acknowledges the Institutional Effectiveness Programme in developing service excellence and quality management capacity at UWI, St. Augustine.
  • The St. Augustine Campus-owned web-based quality monitoring software went ‘live’ in September 2013.
  • In September, the Campus Principal welcomes the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) to the Campus to address Senior Managers on preparing for a focused site visit to be held in March 2014.

  • Dr Ali gives lecture on Seamless Education and National Qualifications Frameworks on February 10th 2014 to students in the MA TVET Leadership at the School of Education, UWI, St. Augustine
  • Mr. Kangalee trains Halls of Residence Quality Leadership Team on service excellence assessment in March 2014.
  • The ACTT conducted a Focused Site Visit to review the institutional accreditation progress on Thursday April 10th 2014.
  • Dr Ali and Mr Cockburn attends the Automation Pilot Project Steering Committee Meeting for Business Process Improvement at Campus IT Services on April 23rd 2014

(May-August 2014)

  • Dr Ali speaks on the Topic: Learning for Excellence at the Rose of Sharon Elementary School Graduation Ceremony, Tunapuna, Trinidad on May 5th 2014.
  • Dr. Ali participates in the institutional accreditation workshop/planning session at the UWI School of Business and Applied Studies (Roytec) on May 8th 2014.  
  • Dr Ali holds talks on collaborative ventures and gives an Education Policy Seminar on Global Benchmarking and Internationalization of Higher Education to the faculty and staff at the Institute of Higher Education, University of Georgia on May 14th and 15th 2014
  • Mr. Cockburn trains student mobility staff in the Office of Institutional Advancement and Internationalization in Process Mapping on May 15th 2014.
  • Dr Ali pays courtesy call on Dr Claudette Williams, Vice President-Accreditation, Commission on Colleges-Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on May 16th 2014.
  • The IEU participates in the UWI St Augustine Campus Management Retreat to discuss progress on Strategic Perspective 3: Internal Operational Processes May 22nd to 23rd 2014.
  • On behalf of the IEU, Dr Ali presents the ACTT’s Focused Site Visit report to the Institutional Effectiveness Committee on June 4th 2014.
  • Mr Cockburn trains administrative staff on Business Process Mapping Automation on June 6th 2014.
  • Dr Ali, Mr Cockburn and Miss Melissa Berkeley (Institutional Research Analyst/Planning Officer) attend the Meeting of the Social Dialogue Task Force on June 24th 2014 at the Ministry of Labour, Small and Microenterprise Development, Waterfront, Port of Spain. Dr Ali presents on the UWI’s institutional effectiveness practices to the Minister of Labour, Small and Microenterprise Development and the Taskforce.
  • Dr Ali appointed Country Director of the Country Core Body for the Caribbean Area Network for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (CANQATE) at the inaugural Management Meeting held at the University of Trinidad and Tobago Valsayn Campus on July 23rd 2014.
  • Mr Kangalee trains the Library, Estate Police and Faculty of Social Sciences Quality Leadership Teams on service excellence self-assessment in August 2014
