Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) at The University of the West Indies (UWI) under the theme, “30 Years of Excellence in Graduate Studies and Research: Advancing Caribbean and Global Development,” fills me with immense pride. This milestone invites us to reflect on three decades of distinguished leadership, transformative graduate education, and groundbreaking research that have shaped both our regional and global communities.
SGSR remains central in nurturing knowledge and fostering cross-disciplinary innovation. Through the dedication of our graduates, researchers, and academic partners, we continue to make meaningful contributions to addressing our region’s most pressing challenges, from climate resilience and social development to technological advancement and sustainability.
This anniversary allows the SGSR community to honor our founders, recognize our dedicated faculty, celebrate our students and alumni, and reaffirm our commitment to excellence. Together, our shared commitment remains to elevate graduate scholarship, strengthen partnerships, and foster a more resilient, inclusive and prosperous Caribbean. On behalf of the Directors of the GSR, we invite everyone to be part of this legacy and celebrations particularly “Anniversary Gala” which intend to raise the funding for postgraduate scholarships.
