Creating a Campus Without Barriers

We at the SLDD are part of a prevention programme aimed at the early identification of students who are experiencing academic challenges. The Unit seeks to develop a network of concerned lecturers with adequate resources to deal with the inevitable difficulties of students.  Through such a system student-faculty communication is encouraged and promoted, contributing significantly to the broader development of all concerned on campus.

The University community should provide a reasonably stable and not too lonely environment in which students can find some level of identity and security.  Academic motivation and performance are likely to be increased if students are not too socially isolated or too despondent to do any studying. The academic support system provides a caring network for all students in order that they might gain maximum benefit from their academic experience.

At the Student Life and Development Department we can help you with these issues and more.
