Cascade launch

Barbara Lalla, Professor of Language and Literature at the Department of Liberal Arts, will launch her new book, Cascade, which received a UWI Press Award in September 2010.

Prof Lalla is the author of a number of scholarly books and articles, most recently Postcolonialisms: Caribbean Re-reading of Medieval English Discourse; and she has collaborated in editing several others, such as Created in the West Indies, Caribbean Perspectives on V. S. Naipaul (edited Jennifer Rahim and Barbara Lalla). She also served the St Augustine Campus as Public Orator for many years.

A Ceremony of Carols
Saturday 4 & Sunday 12 December, 2010
Daaga Auditorium, UWI, St. Augustine, Trinidad

The UWI Arts Chorale, along with the National Sinfonia Orchestra, will, for the first time in Trinidad, give a complete performance of Benjamin Britten’s celebrated Christmas classic, A Ceremony of Carols – a full length work for choir and harp. The concert takes place on Saturday December 4 at Daaga Auditorium, UWI St Augustine campus at 7.30pm, and Sunday December 12 at St Paul’s Anglican Church in San Fernando at 5pm.

SALISES book launch

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies hosts the launch of the book written by the late Doddridge H.N. Alleyne, former Head of the Trinidad & Tobago Public Service, titled Export/Import Trends and Economic Development in Trinidad 1919-1939 (UWI Press). This launch will take place on Monday 6th November, 2010, at 6 pm, at the Office of the Campus Principal. Mr Alleyne, who passed away on October 8, was conferred with an honorary doctorate by The UWI this year.

UWI Fete
