Pro Vice-Chancellor and St Augustine Campus Principal, Professor Clement Sankat was part of the delegation, which included ALJGSB’s Executive Director, Professor Miguel Carrillo (its Executive Director) and Director of Internationalization and Institutional Relations, Nirmala Maharaj. The CSA President, Grantley Stephenson signed the MOU through which it endorses the UWI-ALJGSB online Master of Port and Maritime Programme. “This programme was carefully customized for the region through a stakeholder approach of those in academia and the port and maritime industry,” said Prof Sankat, noting that several consultations were done within the port and maritime industry. “The insights from Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Company (PLIPDECO) and the Shipping Association of Trinidad and Tobago (SATT), led by Ashley Taylor, were extremely beneficial during the design of the programme,” he said. “Our university looks forward to advancing discussions with the Caribbean Shipping Association on future training and development needs in areas such as MBA in International Trade, Logistics and Procurement Management; Master of Human Resource Management; and Master of Marketing, but this goes further into Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety. At The UWI there are several programmes that can facilitate the development of your people,” he said. |
On October 7, a memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business (ALJGSB), The UWI, St Augustine and the Caribbean Shipping Association (CSA). The MOU was signed on the occasion of the CSA’s 43rd annual general meeting, conference and exhibition in Panama.
