Supporting Youth during the COVID-19 Pandemic

If you work in a youth-focused discipline, here is your opportunity to attend a free online session to assist you in helping young people cope with the challenges of COVID-19. This virtual presentation is a partnership between UWI St Augustine’s Department of Behavioural Sciences and the Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Sport and Youth Affairs.

Dr Cheryl-Ann Boodram, Lecturer and Practicum Coordinator of UWI’s Social Work Unit, will present on Surviving and Thriving: Youth Living in a COVID-19 World. Psychology lecturer Dr Christine Descartes will speak on Staying the Course amid the Pandemic: Potential Impact and Challenges for Youth.

The Business of Intellectual Property

An understanding of intellectual property (IP) laws and guidelines are vital for entrepreneurs and innovators. This July, UWI St Augustine's Fundraising and Alumni Affairs Unit, the Entrepreneurship Unit, and the Ministry of Legal Affairs will host this webinar designed to give participants tools to understand and protect their IP.

Programme Manager of the Entrepreneurship Unit Julian Henry, and Manager of Technical Examination within the Intellectual Property Office of the Legal Affairs Ministry Richard Assing, will present. The webinar is free to the public.

Interested in learning about custody rights, estate planning, law in relation to rape and incest, domestic violence and matrimonial property, and legal concerns for domestic violence and shelter management? Attend this three week virtual short course by the Institute of Gender and Development Studies at UWI St Augustine.

Facilitated by attorney-at-law Beverly Samuel, the course consists of six three-hour sessions.

Cost: TT$2,100.00/US$350.00 (Discounts available for students, activists, and representatives of civil society organisations.)

The Faculty of Food and Agriculture is making a call for papers for the topic “Celebrating a Hundred Years of Agricultural Research and Innovation: Perspectives on Tropical Food and Agricultural Systems”. The presentations will be part of the faculty’s Centennial Legacy Celebration of Agriculture at UWI St Augustine virtual conference.
