Academics<\/h1>\n

Medical Overview<\/h3>\n

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) is a 4-year postgraduate programme that produces a well-trained general physician along the lines of North American Universities. To enter the programme one must have a BSc in science with emphasis in Chemistry\/Biology or Biochemistry from a recognized university. If candidates do not have a degree they may still be considered provided they completed the curriculum comprised of certain foundation courses as recommended by the School\u2019s Entrance Committee.<\/p>\n

Foundational Courses<\/h1>\n

This consists of courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Social Sciences. Clinical Training<\/h1>\n

This will be undertaken in hospitals in North America or the United Kingdom if students wish to travel. If not, the clinical training can be undertaken at hospitals in Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

Overview of the Qualifying Courses<\/h1>\n

The qualifying courses at The UWI St. Augustine Campus are done during a year (three-semester) and are part of a certificate programme specially designed to prepare non-national students for matriculation to the MD programme at the Global Medical School.<\/p>\n

Delivered by the Faculty of Medical Sciences at The UWI St. Augustine in Trinidad, the programme is designed around courses in English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics and other liberal arts courses.
