UWI St Augustine students (from left) Irshad Mohammed, Angelina Hosein, and Sydney Henry erupt in celebration after being announced the winners of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s (CTO’s) prestigious Regional Next-Gen Tourism Showcase 2025, held on June 3 in Times Square, New York City. A statement from CTO said the “team delivered a dynamic, musical, and inspiring pitch” that “reimagined Paramin Village as a hub for agri-edu tourism— blending culture, wellness, farming, and community storytelling into one unforgettable visitor experience”. The team took part in the competition with the guidance and support of the Faculty of Social Sciences. They were awarded a US$5,000 prize provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
