Ignite, the signature benefit concert of The UWI Development and Endowment Fund (UWIDEF) will return in April, and this time the show will be headlined by 13-time National Panorama Champions, the internationally acclaimed BP Renegades.
Dubbed “an unforgettable evening of music, unity and philanthropy” by UWIDEF, Ignite 3 promises attendees “a world-class musical experience for a noble cause”.
Launched in 2023, Ignite was created to support students at UWI St Augustine. Funds generated by the event are used to expand scholarship opportunities, invest in campus development projects where feasible, and bolster emergency student assistance programmes. The concert was conceived by UWIDEF’s Chairman Professor of Practice Dr Sterling Frost ORTT. Ignite is one of UWIDEF’s primary fundraising initiatives along with the Garden Party and the Charity Golf Challenge.
“Every dollar raised through events like the benefit concert directly supports these objectives, ensuring that UWI students can continue to pursue their academic dreams without financial distress,” said Dr Frost.
In a release, UWIDEF stated that “patrons of the 2025 benefit concert are in for an unforgettable, high energy cultural celebration, with the legendary BP Renegades taking centre stage. The night will pulse with the rhythms of steelpan mastery, captivating the crowd with every note. But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Patrons can look forward to engaging performances, surprise guest appearances, and an atmosphere brimming with camaraderie, culture and community.”
Dr Frost expressed his gratitude for the “exceptional generosity” of Ignite 3’s primary sponsor Xtra Foods Ltd, as well as to BP “whose steadfast support further reinforces the importance of corporate partnership in driving educational access and social development”.
Tickets for Ignite 3 are available at the Queen’s Hall Box office and The UWI St Augustine Student Services Division.
