World of Work Entrepreneurship Programme
Within the sphere of entrepreneurship education there have been identified key skills that are deemed necessary in order to start and grow a business, that can be taught, learnt and implemented by students. These skills have often been identified as crucial, out of the classroom knowledge, that works in tandem with the technical skills that students learn during their programme of study.
At the Department of Careers, Co-curricular and Community Engagement, providing students with opportunities to build these important transferable skills is one of our key mandates. The programme will coincide with our annual World of Work (WOW) programme. Our overarching goal for the World of Work (WOW) entrepreneurship component would be to expose students to entrepreneurship skills training, knowledge acquisition and competency enhancement.
The objectives of this programme are:
To teach students how to develop a concept and a business plan
We help students to become the distinctive UWI graduate; one who is a critical and creative thinker, problem solver, effective communicator, team player and leader. By participation in these programmes, students are likely to become more competent, information technology skilled, and socially and culturally responsive.
The Careers, Co-curricular and Community Engagement Department of the DSSD focuses on skill development and providing students with well-rounded experiences required to help them adapt to life after university.
