What is the difference between applying to versus registering for a programme?
Applying to a programme means that you are seeking to be enrolled in the programme of interest. Re-entry applicants, withdrawn from the programme and now wish to continue, are also considered to be applying for enrolment in the programme.
Registering for a programme/courses means that you have been given an offer of enrolment in the programme, to register for courses, or you are continuing your registration as an active student.

What is the application fee?
There is no application fee for Graduate Studies

How do I apply for my PGDip, M.A., MEd, M.Sc., DM, MD, EMBA, IMBA, MPhil or PhD?
Online Application period is open from November –– March, prior to the start of the next Academic year.  There is no paper based application. Apply Here (http://sta.uwi.edu/admissions/postgrad/apply.asp)

What documents do I need to apply for my PGDip, M.A., MEd., M.Sc., DM, MD, EMBA, IMBA, MPhil or Phd.?

UWI graduates:

  • Copy of Confirmation Receipt
  • Two (2) referees’ reports (PG Dip Ed Applicants, only Principal's Referee Report)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
  • Legal Affidavit or Deed Poll if your present name is different from that on the Birth Certificate
  • Professional Certificates/Diplomas obtained from Institutions other than UWI
  • Research Proposal (M.Phil., Ph.D. and M.D. applicants only)
  • Confirmation of Employment (applicants to Engineering programmes)
  • Official Transcript from granting institutions other than UWI

UWI Cave Hill and Mona Campuses:

  • Copy of Confirmation Receipt
  • Two (2) referees’ reports (PG Dip Ed Applicants, only Principal's Referee Report)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Birth Certificate

  • TOEFL Score of 500 or greater (if English is not your first Language)

How do I know that I have been accepted into a programme?
You will get an email that states the outcome of your application in July or August and you can track your application online by logging into https://ssb2.sta.uwi.edu/proddad/bwskalog.P_DispLoginNon
What is an active student?
An active student is currently registered for taught courses or the research paper/project report/thesis and is financially cleared for the semester. A student on leave of absence is not an active student.
What is a leave of absence?
A candidate may apply for leave of absence from a programme for reasons including academic, medical, personal, work related reasons or the absence of courses to register for. The candidate’s registration will be suspended during leave of absence but will be expected to register following the end of the leave of absence. Can I apply for more than one programme?
No.  Only one application will be considered at a time.
 Can I switch my application?
Yes.  You can email us at pgonline@sta.uwi.edu or write a letter and address it to our office stating which programme you applied to and what is your preferred choice now. This is however subject to whether the switch can be facilitated at the time of your request.
I applied last year but did not take up my offer, do I have to re-apply?
Yes.  However your reference reports are valid for a year so you can request that your reports be considered with your new application. Applicants for School of Education must re-submit new reports.
When should I expect a response concerning my application?
You should expect a response via email during July and August of the Academic year in which you expect to commence your studies.
How will I know that all my documents have been received for my Application?

Where can I get forms to apply for my PGDip, M.A., M.Sc., DM, MD, EMBA, IMBA, MPhil or Phd.?
The Application process is electronic (online) and not paper based. However, hardcopies of all other supporting documentation are required.
I tried to apply for a programme but that option is not coming up, why?
  • The programme is not being offered for the upcoming Academic Year. See list of offered programmes here.
  • The application period has not opened/has closed for it. Check with the Department responsible for the programme or our Office for more information.
  • You may be selecting the inappropriate option to apply for the programme.
  • Postgraduate programmes are listed under the options of: as part of the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, Full-time, Part-time, and the Evening University (MSc Public Sector Management and the MSc Strategic Leadership & Management).
Why was my application not accepted?
You may not have met the criteria because:
  • your application had outstanding documents,
  • your transcript was incomplete,
  • your reference reports were not supportive,
  • the programme was oversubscribed
  • your application was submitted after the deadline
  • your application did not satisfy the entry requirements
  • your research proposal could not be accommodated
