Microsoft IT Academy

Co-Curricular courses through the Microsoft IT Academy at Campus Information Technology Services (CITS) and Faculty of Science and Technology. Offered to all undergraduate students of UWI enrolled in a Bachelor’s programme. Students are not charged or billed for this service once GATE approved. Those who are not GATE approved or otherwise sponsored are billed on a per credit basis (http://sta.uwi.edu/cocurricular/).     

 

Microsoft Certification Courses

  • Online training with resources from MyeLearning and Microsoft ELearning
    1. Exam Simulation sessions (at user’s pace)
    2. Self-paced and repeatable training modules
  • Tutored In-person, Face to Face sessions at the LRC and resources from myelearning
    1. Eight (8) tutored sessions
    2. Three (3) Review and Exam simulation sessions

 

Tutors will:

 

Over the course of one Semester, CITS will deliver:

  • Face to Face Option: eleven 2- hour tutored sessions
  • Online Option: unlimited number of self paced sessions within the semester

At the end of the course, all students have a 1-hour online examination, the results of which are available immediately upon completion of the exam. Successful candidates will receive an internationally recognised certificate from Microsoft within one month of the exam date.

 

Students will:           

  • Attend at least 70% of classes.
  • Complete Examination Preparation scoring at least 85%.
  • Complete the one hour Online exam.
  • Successful students should check with support service at Certiport for non-receipt of Certificate after one month.
  • Check with the MSIT Academy at CITS for any unresolved issues pertaining to any of our courses.

 

IT Training – Technology Literacy

  • Tutored In-person, Face to Face sessions at the LRC and resources from myelearning

  1. Twelve(12) tutored sessions
  2. Four(4) online exams via myelearning
  3. Group project

 

Tutors will:

  • Introduce students to the Microsoft ELearning Digital Literacy
  • Provide the necessary access code to Microsoft ELearning Digital Literacy
  • Conduct online exams during the semester
  • Oversee the group project

 

Over the course of one Semester, CITS will deliver:

  • Face to Face Option: eleven 3- hour tutored sessions

Students will be examined based on the four online exams and a group project.

 

 Students will:

  • Attend at least 70% of classes.
  • Participate in class discussion.
  • Complete all online exams and group project.

 

Register for Co-curricular course(s) online during the start of each semester as scheduled on the Semester Timetable.

 

Microsoft Office Skills – Training and Certification

Online training in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook – open to the public including UWI staff. The customer is charged or billed for this service (http://sta.uwi.edu/cocurricular/).

  • Online training with resources from Microsoft Elearning
    • Self-paced and repeatable training modules
    • Exam Simulation sessions (at user’s pace)
    • Guidance from tutors

Training will be made available online via Microsoft Elearning, with unlimited number of self-paced sessions within a six month period. At the end of the course, all persons will have a 1-hour online examination, the results of which are available immediately upon completion of the exam. Successful candidates will receive an Internationally recognised certificate from Microsoft.

 

Conditions:  

  • Open to anyone.
  • Proof of payment of required fees.

Face to Face customized training in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook and Technology Literacy – Open to the public including UWI staff. Customized courses are developed based on special needs of a group upon request. The customer is charged or billed for this service. Cost is determined by Service Owner.

  • Face to Face tutored Session(s): the number of sessions will be based on request made.

 

Conditions:

  • Open to any group requiring training.
  • Proof of payment of required fees.

 

Tutors will:

  • Provide the necessary training.

 

Clients will:

  • Attend all session(s).

 

 

Help and Support with Microsoft Office

Help and Support with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook and Technology Literacy – Open to the public including UWI staff. This service is offered on a personal basis. The customer is charged or billed for this service if necessary. Cost is determined by Service Owner. Free consultation by appointment - if support requires detailed assistance from tutors there may be a charge to be determined by the Service Owner.

  • Open to anyone.
  • Proof of payment of required fees where necessary.

  • Fulfill the needs of the client based on the request made.
