About Us
The Trade and Economic Development Unit (TEDU), Department of Economics, UWI St. Augustine is hosting the second installment of its conference series “Creating a Culture of Transparency” in the extractive industries. This instalment builds on the pervious Revenue Management Conference and concentrates on issues of Revenue Reporting and will take place on the 5th - 6th June 2014 at the Port of Spain Ball Room, HYATT Regency Hotel, .
This conference would concentrate on:
- The Status of Transparency Initiatives in Trinidad and Tobago
- Transparency and Accountability in Procurement
- Publish What You Pay Initiatives
- The Role of Civil Society in Transparency and Accountability
TEDU wants to encourage a proper public understanding of the use of natural resource rents, that is, government revenues and expenditure, to help public debate, as a means to improve accountability for the management of natural resource revenues.
The conference will accommodate an audience of approximately 200 persons and targets an audience consisting of persons belonging to the respective categories:
- Experts in Energy Industry
- Government Ministries
- Business Community
- Students and Staff of Tertiary Level Educational Institutions
- Non Governmental Organisations and local community based organizations
