March 29-31, 2009 - CRU hosted the Project Initiation Workshop for the World Bank project titled "Identification of ancient cocoa diversity through modern genomics methods for the benefit of small farmers".

March 9, 2009 - CRU staff members gave local RSCE2 participants a guided tour of the ICG,T as part of the RSCE2 Field Trip Programme planned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Marine Resources.

March 24-26, 2009:- CRU staff assisted and participated in the international meeting of cacao growers, researchers, sponsors and other stakeholders at RSCE2: Roundtable for a Sustainable Cocoa Economy.

March 18-19, 2009:- CRU hosted representatives from CRAC and the CRA (UK) for the annual CRAC meeting and seminars.

December 12, 2008:- CRU hosts Valedictory Function at Ortinola Great House to celebrate Mrs. Claudia Lyons who has retired after 37 years of outstanding service to CRU and The University of the West Indies. CRU staff extend their congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Lyons and wish her success in her future endeavours.

July 25, 2008:- Valedictory function for CRU director Dr. David Butler held at Ortinola Great House. CRU staff joins the international cacao research community in commending Dr. Butler for his many years of dedicated service. Ingenic

This newsletter produced by the International Group for Genetic Improvement on Cocoa (INGENIC) is an invaluable source of information for the wider cacao research community.

Ingenic has been published annually since 1995 by members of the international cacao research community who form INGENIC. It is edited by CRU staff member, Frances Bekele and its main focus is on genetic improvement, breeding, and molecular technology. INGENIC is mailed to over 300 subscribers.
