About UWI Discovers India

On Thursday July 12th a group of senior Faculty, Administrators and Alumni embarked on the UWI Discover India Tour, a 3-week visit to the Indian subcontinent.  In India, the participants will be provided with a level of engagement that extends beyond the typical package tour, in that they will be guided by both UWI and local professors who possess a greater depth of knowledge and insight apart from what is in a typical tourism website or guidebook. The tour will include lectures by experts in the fields of education, agriculture, science, the environment, small industry and businesses, IT and management, history, mythology and culture to understand the continuity and change.

In order to provide this special experience, visits were sought with leading educational, technological, research and business institutions, historical sites and museums, along with visits to different ecological zones, rural and urban areas in different cities.

Through this unique approach, the Discover India participants will be provided with an exceptional experience of both the old India and the new, with respect to the changes that the country is undergoing with the impact of globalization.
