Undergraduate Studies

 

SANE currently offers one undergraduate programme, the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), and expects to offer a second undergraduate programme very soon .  The BScN is delivered face to face through a mix of classroom and laboratory instruction. 

The overall goals of SANE’s nursing programmes are:

  1. To provide a post-basic programme at the undergraduate level for professional nurses of the Caribbean with Clinical Preceptorships at a variety of health care agencies;
  2. To provide leadership and direction for the progressive development of the Nursing profession of the region;
  3. To strengthen Nursing as a viable research-based academic discipline; and
  4. To ensure the organizational and administrative infrastructure for the sustainability and expansion of advanced educational programmes for nurses.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing        

The BSN comprises compulsory and elective courses.  Four areas of specialization within the BSN are provided below:

  • School Nursing
  • Oncology
  • Nursing Education

 

  • Nursing Administration

 

The BSN is offered both full time and part time, with courses available in the ‘summer’ session and on evenings. The duration of our full time curriculum is one calendar year over three semesters; and the duration of our part time curriculum is two calendar years over six semesters.

Postgraduate Studies

 

SANE offers an online postgraduate programme, the Master of Science in Nursing (MScN).    SANE’s MScN aims to counteract the expanding demands on healthcare which continues to increase the need for suitably qualified Health Care Professionals. 

The MScN targets leaders, teachers and advanced clinicians, preparing them for practice. In its initial stages the programme seeks to specialize specifically in the area of Nursing Education and focuses primarily on theory, research and clinical practice. The MScN offers revolutionary and exciting approaches to education such as Distance Education, Teleconferencing, Computer Assisted Instruction and Mentoring.
