What Do I Wear?

The Ceremony of Graduates is a formal one and Graduates to be presented to the Chancellor, Professor The Honourable Sir George Alleyne – OCC, MD, FRCP, FACP (Hon), DSc (Hon) (UWI) are required to wear academic dress, i.e.

Female Graduands are required to wear white only, either dresses or suits are acceptable with black shoes. (OTHER COLOURS ARE NOT PERMITTED). Please be guided accordingly.

Male Graduands are required to use formal wear/dark lounge suits.

We ask that you comply with these requirements.

All holders of first degrees must wear the University Graduate Gown with appropriate Faculty Hood.

Presentees for Non-Degree Awards who are Graduates of the UWI and other Universities should wear the Gown and Hood of the Faculty from which he/she received a FIRST DEGREE.

Presentees for Non-Degree awards who are not holders of First Degrees are required to wear a scarlet gown without Faculty hood. (Certificate and Undergraduate Diploma and Associate Degree Programmes).
