2014

  • IGDS Breaking the Silence Action Research Project has been awarded a Campus Award in the category Most Impacting Research Project (2014).
  • Patricia Mohammed, Professor of Gender and Cultural Studies, and IGDS Head, is selected for the Faculty Award of Most Outstanding Researcher (2014) by The Campus Awards Selection Committee.

2013

  • Dr Grace Sirju-Charran, IGDS Associate Staff was selected as one of 16 leading women scientists in the Americas by IANAS (2013).
  • Brenda Gopeesingh (IGDS Diploma Student), Dr Gabrielle Hosein (IGDS Lecturer) and Ellen O’Malley Camps (IGDS MPhil student) were recipients of the Faith Wilshire Award (2013), presented by the Network of NGOs for the Advancement of Women.

2012

  • Prof. Patricia Mohammed was an Honouree Visiting Guest Speaker to the Critical Caribbean Studies at Rutgers University’s School of Arts and Sciences in November/December 2012.

  • Dr. Grace Sirju-Charran, IGDS Associate Staff, Life Sciences was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Excellence (2012). A pioneer in course development at The UWI in the fields of Gender, Science and Agriculture.
  • Professor Rhoda Reddock, Professor of Gender and Social Change was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Western Cape in Bellville South Africa
  • Prof. Rhoda Reddock was the recipient of the The Medal for the Development of Women Gold (2012), The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago National Award.

  • Dr. Sandra Reid, IGDS Associate Staff and Faculty of Medical Sciences was awarded the UWI/Guardian Life Premium Teaching Award (2012). Dr. Reid is also one of the Lead Researchers on the Break the Silence Action Research Project.
  • Dr. Geraldine Skeete, IGDS Associate Staff from the Faculty of Humanities and Education was awarded the UWI/Guardian Life Premium Teaching Award (2012).
