LECTURER IN CRIMINOLOGY

Qualification and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Criminology/Criminal Justice or a related discipline from an accredited university with a strong publication record with a focused research agenda and experience teaching in Criminology at the undergraduate and graduate level in one or more of the following areas:

  • Police Science
  • Forensic Science
  • Criminal Investigation
  • Caribbean Criminology

 

Further consideration would be given to applicants who: 

  • possess professional experience in the Criminal Justice System
  • are able to teach any two (2) of the following: Terrorism and Political Violence; White Collar Crime; both quantitative and qualitative methods

 

 

Special Responsibilities 

  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses
  • Supervising research students at the M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels
  • Maintaining a publication record
  • The incumbent will be expected to teach five courses per academic year

 

 

Personal Attributes

The Department places high priority on individuals of integrity who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

  •  Have team leadership, coordination and fundraising skills
  • Be able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and within a university structure
  • Willingness to develop a research agenda and to lead research activities in Criminology
