Minimum Qualification

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the teaching of academic writing skills in English.  Candidates with a graduate degree in the field will also be considered



Training and experience at tertiary level in the teaching of English Language to Caribbean students and marking related examination scripts


Special Responsibilities

Teaching and evaluating the University’s English Language Foundation programme.  Some administration will be required

The Department places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills and must be student-centered. A good and firm command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also have the:

·         ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment

·         ability to diagnose and offer advice on writing challenges faced by West Indian students

·         capacity to teach English Language writing skills effectively

·         capacity to work collaboratively towards common goals

·         capacity to meet very specific deadlines in terms of marking scripts, conducting consultations and teaching large groups of students

·         technological competencies particular to a web-enabled blended learning environment
