Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must possess a:


  • DVM or equivalent
  • M.Sc./Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine/Science




  • Considerable postgraduate research and teaching experience at University level or Referral Hospital
  • Demonstration of postgraduate research with an acceptable level of research and creative output
  • A strong background in large Animal Clinical Medicine


Board Certification in Equine Clinical Medicine would be an advantage

Applicants must be eligible for full registration in Trinidad and Tobago


Special Responsibilities 


  • Supervising Large Animal hospital cases and personnel
  • Teaching Large Animal Internal Medicine – Equine emphasis
  • Teaching students in a clinical setting
  • Guiding, supervising and coordinating graduate students and interns
  • Conducting independent and group research



Personal Attributes 

The Department places high priority on individuals who can work well in a team environment. Candidates should possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:


  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be able to contribute significantly to curriculum development
  • Be willing to contribute to pre-clinical course development
  • Be willing to contribute to interdisciplinary research
  • Have familiarity with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method and willingness to participate in Problem-Based Learning (PBL)
