Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry focused on Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Bio-Organic Chemistry, or Natural Products Isolation and Synthesis.  Candidates must also possess:

 

  • Relevant postdoctoral research experience
  • An outstanding publication record and a well-developed research plan
  • Demonstrable synthetic experience
  • Considerable experience in teaching at the tertiary level

 

Further consideration will be given to candidates possessing:

 

  • Experience in Project Management
  • A track record of successful grant applications
  • Successful supervision of Ph.D. students
  • Certificate in teaching at university level

 

 

Special Responsibilities

 

  • Developing an externally funded research program
  • Providing quality teaching and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Participating in Departmental and University initiatives

 

 

Personal Attributes 

The Department places high priority on individuals of integrity and who can work well in a team and student friendly environment. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills. A good command of both oral and written English is essential. Candidates must also:

 

  • Be a motivated individual, preferably with research interests in one or more of the areas of pharmaceutically active small molecules, Heterocycles or Peptide Chemistry
  • Have a strong research agenda indicating the ability to publish in high quality journals
