OHSE TECHNICAL ATTENDANT I (GRADE 4)

Applications are invited for the post of OHSE Technical Attendant I (Grade 4) in the Office of Health, Safety and the Environment
The OHSE Technical Assistant will assist the OHSE Manager to implement an OHSE management system for the UWI, St Augustine Campus.
Duties of the post include:
1. Participating in the preparation and review of risk assessments
2. Preparing HSE reports and trend analysis as required.
3. Assisting in the development and implementation of Emergency Response Plans.
4. Assisting with ensuring an up-to-date chemical inventory is in place at the Departmental level with the associated current Safety Data Sheets.
5. Assisting in conducting incident investigations.
6. Assisting in updating the Corrective Action Tracker.
7. Assisting in developing and scheduling the delivery of internal and external OHSE training programmes in accordance with specifications (arranging venue, multimedia, equipment, liaising with contractors, etc).
8. Performing any other related duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Applicants should have knowledge and familiarity with the University’s mission, regulations, structure, policies, and procedures. Applicants must have knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2004 amended 2006, The Environmental Management Act 2000 and associated rules as well as other HSE standards and industry best practices. Applicants should possess skills in risk assessment and incident investigation. Applicants must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and various stakeholders and communicate both verbally and in writing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
An approved NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; its equivalent or higher standard of education from a registered/accredited institution.
Preferred:
An approved Associate degree in OHSE from a registered/accredited institution; its equivalent or higher standard of education from a registered/recoginized institution.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.

Salary will be fixed in accordance with Grade 4 of the salary scale ($6,591.00 x 229 - $9,339.00).
