ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I (GRADE 7)

Applications are invited for the post of Engineering Technician I (Grade 7) in the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

 

Duties of the post include:

1. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing air conditioning installation on all air conditioning equipment and refrigeration systems for the faculty.  Supervising support staff with all installations and maintenance repair work; Assessing problems and determining the level of manpower and appropriate action plans that should be taken.

2. Performing routine preventative maintenance and repair works on all air conditioning equipment and refrigeration systems for the faculty.  Conducting site visits, inspections, and coordinating with Departments/Units for planning of installation work activities.

3. Performing all welding, plumbing, electrical, electronic, civil, and other works associated with air conditioning maintenance and installation. Providing any other assistance in these said work areas that may be required.

4. Performing servicing and repair work on all air conditioning related tools and equipment.

5. Maintaining a current inventory of equipment, instruments, tools and consumable items used for air conditioning and refrigeration works in the Department/Unit and assisting with the procurement of the said items.

6. Overseeing, supervising, and coordinating work activities as it relate to service providers for air conditioning and refrigeration related works. Liaising with and coordinating activities with the Division of Facilities Management (DFM), other Departments, faculties, and external stakeholders on matters relating to the same.

7. Preparing reports (including monthly reports), maintenance records/scheduling, work orders, and responding to queries/emergency calls as required.

8. Assisting with preparation for faculty functions such as Luncheons, Seminars, Prize Award functions, and any other assistance that may be required by the Office of the Dean.

9. Adhering to safety practices, rules, and regulations in the workplace.

10.Performing any other related duties as required by the Supervisor/Head of Department and/or Office of the Dean.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Applicants must possess knowledge of the use of all equipment, tools, materials, and consumables associated with the installation, repairs, and servicing of all types of air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Applicants must also have good interpersonal and communications skills and must be a team player, willing to work flexible hours when required.  The successful applicant should have a working understanding of the OSH Act.  Applicants should be computer literate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

An approved Technician's Diploma in air conditioning and refrigeration systems from a registered/accredited institution; its equivalent or higher standard of education.

 

EXPERIENCE

Essential:

Candidates must possess a minimum of three (3) years of practical work experience in the field.

Salary will be fixed in accordance with Grade 7 of the salary scale. ($8,253.00 x 296 - $11,805.00).
