Research Interests
This research focuses on the discovery of biologically active natural products from endophytic fungi associated with plants native to Trinidad and Tobago. Endophytic fungi are a rich source of structurally diverse secondary metabolites with potential pharmaceutical, agricultural, and industrial applications. This work contributes to the sustainable exploration of the Caribbean's unique biodiversity while supporting the discovery of novel lead compounds for drug development.
This research seeks to improve access to high-quality chemistry education for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students through the development of inclusive teaching practices and outreach initiatives. This is achieved through the design and evaluation of student-centred learning experiences that incorporate inquiry-based instruction and accessible laboratory activities to enhance student engagement and deepen scientific understanding. In collaboration with educators, community partners, and student volunteers, sustainable outreach programs are being implemented to foster STEM identity and promote equitable educational opportunities for Deaf learners in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean.
