Dr. LeRoy Hill

Meet  LeRoy Hill, a passionate educator and researcher who loves to explore the intersections of technology, learning, and society. He has a Ph.D. in Education (eLearning) from the University of Nottingham, where he studied how socio-cultural activity theory can inform the design and evaluation of online learning environments. He also has a Post-graduate Teaching Certificate from The UWI and a Certificate in University & College Administration from the University of Manitoba, which reflect his dedication to excellence and innovation in higher education.

Dr. Hill has taught online courses in Instructional/Learning Design and Educational Leadership, sharing his insights and experiences with students from diverse backgrounds and contexts. He is also the host of the podcast “Let’s Talk eLearning”, where he demystifies and discusses key issues, challenges, and opportunities in distance learning with experts and practitioners. You can find his podcast on various popular platforms, such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts. 

Dr. Hill is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy Professional Framework, an award that recognises his sustained record of effective and strategic leadership in the higher education setting. He has served in various roles and positions in different institutions, bringing his wealth of knowledge, socio-technical skills, and experience to The UWI. His research interests include Socio-cultural Activity Theory, Distance and Online Education, Learning Design, and Teacher Education. 

When he is not teaching, researching, or podcasting, LeRoy enjoys gardening, cooking, and playing table tennis. He believes that these hobbies help him relax, recharge, and stay creative. He also likes to travel and learn about different cultures and cuisines. He is always open to new ideas and collaborations, so feel free to reach out to him if you want to chat or work with him.
