Speaker Bios - Ms. Sunity Maharaj

 

Sunity Maharaj is the Managing Director of the Lloyd Best Institute of the West Indies, a non-profit organization that was founded by her late husband Lloyd Best.  She has served in several capacities including as a media consultant, a lecturer in journalism, editor of the Trinidad and Tobago Review and Group Executive for Editorial and Content Development at one Caribbean Media.  Ms. Maharaj was the editor-in-chief of the Trinidad Express, as well as News Director of TV6.

In her current capacity as the Managing Director of the Lloyd Best Institute of the West Indies (LBIWI), she promotes LBIWI as an independent agency for research and discussion on public policy and other issues and for networking communities of indigenous knowledge and activity. From this has come Caribbean Yard Campus, an initiative designed to bridge the informal and formal knowledge system of the Caribbean
