THATCamp Caribe, or “The Humanities and Technology Camp in the Caribbean,” is an unconference: an open, inexpensive meeting where humanists and technologists of all skill levels learn and build together in sessions proposed on the spot. A THATCamp is informal, collaborative, spontaneous, lively, and very productive. It’s also a great way to learn and ask questions about Digital Humanities and its many facets. Previous THATCamps have been held in Puerto Rico and Cuba, and we are very excited to bring our unconference to Trinidad & Tobago.
As part of this year’s THATCamp Caribe, we are also proposing a Wikipedia workshop, where WILC participants will learn the technology of Wikipedia and how to add/edit content, with emphasis on Caribbean literary studies. Workshop leader(s) will guide participants in learning the technologies and philosophies of editing Wikipedia and discuss methods of implementing Wikipedia editing as an assignment in Caribbean-centric courses.
Participants may choose to come prepared with an entry they wish to edit/create or come just to learn the technology by working on suggested entries. Previous experience is not necessary.
All THATCamp Caribe events are free and open to the public.
