Evaluation is the systematic investigation of the worth or merit of some object. It involves gathering information for decision-making using a variety of methods, models and approaches. Education leaders must manage or conduct evaluations of programmes, policies, people and institutions. This is the basis for developing the course structure, which centres upon three core areas that are most relevant to the role of evaluation in successful school and school systems: (1) evaluating schools and school systems; (2) evaluating programmes, curricula, and policies; and (3) evaluating teachers and training programmes.
