Climate Change and Health Leadership Fellow

Dr. William M. Hamilton is a general practice physician currently working in the Department of Public Health, in The Bahamas. He aspires to practice Emergency Medicine with special interest in disaster and flight medicine while also running a community-based organization that focuses on rapid response care in disaster situations. He has published in notable journals, including Health Affairs, and The Lancet.

His keen interest in Emergency Medicine was kindled while working shifts in the Accident and Emergency department, and this passion was reinforced after having been stationed in Marsh Harbour, Abaco during the passage of Hurricane Dorian, where he performed disaster relief duties and provided total care for numerous patients under austere conditions for a protracted period of time.

A well-rounded physician, Dr. Hamilton completed a Masters of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Integrative Health and Wellness from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2010, prior to moving on to the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, where he obtained his medical degree in 2015.
