Our Facilities
Resources for Teaching & Learning
The School of Pharmacy shares the facilities available for other students of the medical faculty such as lecture rooms, laboratories, seminar rooms, and library and computer facilities. Some lectures are conducted in a large amphitheatre with a capacity of 500 and another amphitheater for 170 students. In addition there is a separate lecture room for pharmacy students with a seating capacity of 35 and a dedicated pharmacy practice laboratory that can accommodate 50 students.
At present there are eleven full time staff. All academic staff are provided with computer, Internet access and a printer. Laptop computer and multimedia projector are routinely utilized by staff and students.

Analytical Instruments
The research laboratories of the School, used by undergraduate and postgraduate students, are equipped with sophisticated instruments like High Performance Liquid Chromatography, UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Binocular and Trinocular Microscopes, High Speed Centrifuge, Dissolution Test Apparatus etc. The School of Pharmacy has a “Laboratory of Peptide Research and Development” in which UG/PG and Post Doctoral Training Programs are initiated where students/researchers will be given short/long term exposure to peptide synthesis techniques, theoretical and practical aspects related to research methodologies including protection and deprotection of different groups, coupling and cyclization reactions, in addition to enhancement of article writing skills, group discussions, webinars by foreign experts, workshops/symposiums, outreach programs etc.

Pharmacy Practice Lab
The pharmacy practice laboratory also has facilities (laminar flow chambers) for dispensing of sterile pharmaceutical products. The skills lab for clinical skills and physical assessment is well equipped and has three examination rooms and a number of stations. A computer lab with Internet access is also available to pharmacy students.

Poison Information Center
The Poison Information Center is attached to the pharmacology department and managed by a team of pharmacologists and toxicologists. Pharmacy students are given an exposure to the functioning of a poison information center during their clinical rotations.
Medical Sciences Library
The Medical Sciences Library provides adequate learning support facilities. Latest textbooks are routinely procured as per the requirements of the students and staff. The library also subscribes to about 33 journals related to pharmacy specialties. Electronic databases such as the IPA CD-ROM are also available. In addition, there is also a departmental library containing important reference books.
