This collection includes ephemera (activist buttons, maps, tickets and travel information for the historic event), photographs, newspapers, magazines and brochures of participating organisations and groups from the Fourth World Conference on Women, 4-15 September 1995, Beijing, China. The full collection will be uploaded to the UWI Space: IGDS—Making of Feminisms in the Caribbean Collections—Rhoda Reddock Collection. Stay tuned for the link. The hard copy originals will eventually be held at the West Indiana and Special Collections of The Ama Jordan Library for inclusion in the Making of Feminisms in the Caribbean Collections, Rhoda Reddock Collection.
"The Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China was the most important of the four conferences on women held between 1975-1995, because it built on political agreements that had been reached at the three previous global conferences on women, and it consolidated five decades of legal advances aimed at securing the equality of women with men in law and in practice."

"The Caribbean, as one of the six subregions of Latin America and the Caribbean, shared responsibility for organising the activities of the Regional Tent at the NGO Forum. Thelma Henderson represented the Caribbean on the organising committee for the Tent and organised the acitivites on September 2, under the theme Political Participation and Power, for which the Caribbean was given responsibility. CAFRA also held two interesting, well-attended workshops on Women and Politics and Caribbean Feminism: A New Generation."

Numerous groups came to the conference with brochures on the work of their organisations, activist buttons, and resource material. The collection includes brochures on topics such as mentoring, food security, and women, health and the environment action for cancer prevention campaign.
