1st Caribbean Specialty Contact Lens Symposium

The UWI School of Optometry will host the 1st Caribbean Specialty Contact Lens Symposium on April 12 to 14 from 9am to 4pm at the UWI School of Optometry, Gordon Street, St. Augustine.

Keratoconus, a degenerative disorder of the eye in which structural changes within the cornea, is a major eye problem in Trinidad and Tobago. This symposium will demonstrate a new type of contact lens to help patients regain most of their vision. The symposium will feature fittings of keratoconic patients to show the efficiency of this new type of lens and presentations by Dr. Edgar Davila OD, FIACLE, NCLE-AC, Mr. Niall Farnon MCOptom, Dr.B. Subash Sharma B.Sc (Hons), M.Sc, Ph.D, F.C.Optom, D.C.L.P and Ms. Paula Lopez on a range of topics including:

Specialty Contacts in Your Everyday Practice; Soft Lenses for Irregular Corneas; Paragon Materials; OrthoK (CRT); Low Vision (CET Points provided); Corneal Ectasias Primary and Secondary (CET Points provided); Irregular Corneas Working for You; Introduction to Scleral Lenses (CET Points provided); Irregular Corneas Workshop with 4 Patients (CET Points provided).
