The Institute of International Relations (IIR) hosts a Diplomatic Dialogue: Human Rights, the New Challenges with His Excellency Ambassador Juan Anibal Barría.

The lecture takes place on April 24 from 1 to 3pm at the Institute of International Relations (IIR) Lecture Room 1 followed by a Q&A session.

About His Excellency Ambassador Juan Anibal Barría

Ambassador Juan Anibal Barría of the Embassy of the Republic of Chile has been the Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago since 1 September 2018. Ambassador is non-resident to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Grenada. He has also been the Ambassador at the Organisation of American States (OAS) and the Kingdom of Norway. He has served in Costa Rica, Peru and Holy See.

Ambassador Barría is a Lawyer and ex- Professor of International Law at the University of Chile and has worked as the Head of the Human Rights Division and Disarmament and Security Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile. He has written several essays and articles about human rights, human security and international law. However, his biggest accomplishment is his family, Ambassador is married and is a proud father of four children and five grandchildren.
